Thank you to YOGI LONDONER Tara who suggested that we feature some Mysore self practice.
We L.O.V.E getting suggestions from our subscribers. Please get in touch and let us know what you think!
The Mysore style of yoga asana practice is a particular way of teaching yoga within the Ashtanga Yoga tradition.
Many different centres offer this type practice, often in early morning classes, and it’s a great way to get a bit of yoga in before work.
It was first taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the southern and ancient Indian city of Mysore. YOGI LONDON travelled to Mysore back in 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit!
There are some differences in this method from the usual modern way in which yoga is taught:
Here’s Tara’s comments:
Ryan Spear is a great teacher at the Life Centre [Notting Hill] and also Michelle is fab for introducing beginners to it – as she teaches is in the tradiational way of learning a few asanas at a time.
